Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck by a car and killed Sunday while crossing Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, Nassau police said.

Martha Garnica, 71, of Lynbrook, was walking at about 7 p.m. when she was struck by a 2019 Cadillac XT5 that was making a turn onto westbound Sunrise from southbound Broadway.

Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck by a car and killed Sunday while crossing Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, Nassau police said.

Martha Garnica, 71, of Lynbrook, was walking at about 7 p.m. when she was struck by a 2019 Cadillac XT5 that was making a turn onto westbound Sunrise from southbound Broadway.

The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged.

Police said the victim was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

The investigation is continuing, police said.
