Brookhaven Town and Mastic Beach Village officials last week demolished a vacant Ocean Avenue home severely damaged in superstorm Sandy, town officials said.
Brookhaven acquired the house through a partnership with The Nature Conservancy from the New York Rising Program for open space purposes, officials said.
This was the 14th home demolished in the last several months in Mastic Beach as the village continues to crack down on blighted houses while ensuring homes aren’t rebuilt on fragile wetlands.
Most of the acquired homes were damaged during superstorm Sandy.
