Small plane makes emergency landing on Cedar Beach; pilot, passenger not hurt
A small plane landed on Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai on Wednesday after the pilot reported engine failure, Suffolk County police and the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The 60-year-old male pilot landed the single-engine Cessna 152 on Cedar Beach around 7:30 p.m. after it lost power during the flight, Suffolk police said. The pilot and his 59-year-old female passenger were not injured.

Video obtained by Newsday shows the Cessna flying low above the beach before it touches down in the sand and passes two beachgoers. The plane quickly came to a stop and then flipped onto its nose. No beachgoers were hurt, police said.
The plane is owned by Long Island Aviators, a Farmingdale aircraft rental and instruction company, according to the FAA registry. Company officials did not respond to requests for comment on Thursday.
The FAA said it was investigating the incident.
