Southold Town police said Brian C. Evans of Alvahs Lane, Cutchogue, was arrested after he was stopped at 12:06 a.m.

Police said an officer saw Evans fail to stop at a stop sign, then try to make a U-turn across a lawn near the intersection of Alvahs Lane and Route 25. The officer attempted to stop Evans, police said, but the driver continued on until he stopped at his home.

Evans was charged with driving while impaired as well as with a lane violation, a stop sign violation and failure to obey a police officer.
