Coast Guard rescues man from tugboat in Sound off Southold
A man in need of emergency assistance while aboard a tugboat Monday morning off Southold was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard, officials said.
The Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a call about 11:15 a.m. reporting a 56-year-old diabetic man on the tug near Race Rock had been vomiting for a day and requested a medical evacuation.

The Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a call about 11:15 a.m. reporting a 56-year-old diabetic man on the tug near Race Rock had been vomiting for a day and requested a medical evacuation.
The Coast Guard dispatched a 29-foot response boat that had been conducting training nearby to rescue the man.
He was taken to New London, Connecticut, where emergency medical services were waiting, officials said.
The man’s name and condition were not available Monday.
