A 17-year-old college student was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon on Route 110 across from Farmingdale State University and had to be airlifted in critical condition, East Farmingdale firefighters said.

A Nassau County police officer came across the crash that struck the teen about 2:30 p.m. at Route 110 and called Suffolk County police, according to the fire department.

A 17-year-old college student was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon on Route 110 across from Farmingdale State University and had to be airlifted in critical condition, East Farmingdale firefighters said.

A Nassau County police officer came across the crash that struck the teen about 2:30 p.m. at Route 110 and called Suffolk County police, according to the fire department.

A Suffolk County police helicopter and ambulances were called to the scene. The 17-year-old was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical, but stable position.

A man in his 30s involved in the crash was also taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
