An East Northport man was arrested Friday for robbing two local banks in the past week, Suffolk police said.

Police said Alan Lepre, 49, entered the HSBC branch on Larkfield Road in East Northport shortly before 10 a.m. Friday and demanded cash from the teller. The teller complied with the demand and Lepre fled the bank on foot, police said.

After reviewing security video footage of the holdup, a bank employee recognized Lepre as a former customer, police said.

Detectives determined that Lepre was also responsible for a Dec. 21 robbery at a TD Bank branch, also on Larkfield Road.

Lepre was charged with two counts of third-degree robbery and is being held at the Second Precinct. He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
