Cops investigate body found in Central Islip
Police are investigating the discovery of the body of an elderly man Monday afternoon in a wooded area in Central Islip, Suffolk police said.
An area resident found the body behind a commercial building on Creative Drive at 12:56 p.m., police said, and notified authorities.

The body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office where an autopsy will be performed, police said, and homicide detectives are investigating, but there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, police said.
Authorities are looking into the possibility that the body is that of Sames Lafortune, 92, of Central Islip. Lafortune, who has dementia, was reported missing Friday, police said.
