A man who police said appears to have fallen from a moving vehicle Sunday night near an entrance to the Southern State Parkway in West Babylon remained hospitalized Thursday in critical condition.

Suffolk County police have not released the identity of the man, who was found alongside Belmont Avenue by officers responding to a 911 call Sunday at 10:12 p.m. Police said the man is in critical condition at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Police said they have not made any arrests in the case and it remains unclear what happened to the man -- but police are investigating the case as if he "fell" from a moving vehicle.

The man does not appear to be the victim of a hit-and-run, police said Monday.

The case is being handled by the vehicular crime unit.

Additional details remained unavailable Thursday.
