A pregnant woman was seriously injured in a parking lot at a Melville petting zoo Saturday afternoon when a car backing out struck her and five parked vehicles.

Police said Anika Vorndamme-Cajigal was standing near her car at White Post Farms when Edward Henselder, of Melville, struck her. He was driving a 2004 Honda, police said.

Police said Henselder's foot slipped off the brake onto the gas pedal, causing his car to strike her and five parked vehicles.

Vorndamme-Cajigal, 37, of Lindenhurst, was being treated for serious injuries, including two pelvic fractures, at Huntington Hospital, police said. She is six months pregnant, police said. Henselder, 79, was not hurt, police said.

No arrests were made and "it looks like an accident," a police spokeswoman said.

The Honda was impounded for a safety check, and police said the investigation continues.
