A teenager was critically injured after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole in Central Islip Monday night, Suffolk police said.

The 17-year-old, of Central Islip, was driving north in a 2010 Honda Civic on Lowell Avenue between Satinwood and East Sycamore streets about 10:15 p.m. when he crossed into the southbound lane, leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole.

A teenager was critically injured after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole in Central Islip Monday night, Suffolk police said.

The 17-year-old, of Central Islip, was driving north in a 2010 Honda Civic on Lowell Avenue between Satinwood and East Sycamore streets about 10:15 p.m. when he crossed into the southbound lane, leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole.

He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is in critical condition, police said.

The Honda was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
