A Hampton Bays man drowned Monday afternoon after he was pulled out of the ocean onto the beach.

Southampton Town police were called to the beach near Dune Road and Road H near Shinnecock Inlet in Hampton Bays, where police said Peter Dzakonski, 54, was pulled from the water by another beachgoer and given CPR just before 3 p.m. Monday.

A Hampton Bays man drowned Monday afternoon after he was pulled out of the ocean onto the beach.

Southampton Town police were called to the beach near Dune Road and Road H near Shinnecock Inlet in Hampton Bays, where police said Peter Dzakonski, 54, was pulled from the water by another beachgoer and given CPR just before 3 p.m. Monday.

Police, marine units and Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance paramedics responded to the beach and took Dzakonski to the hospital, where he died.

Paramedics also treated another man at the beach who was hospitalized after reporting chest pain and difficulty breathing.
