One person was killed in an early morning collision between a box truck and a tractor trailer in the Town of Southampton on Monday, State Police said.

The crash, which took place on eastbound Sunrise Highway east of Exit 62 on the border of Northampton and Remsenberg-Speonk, was reported at 5:39 a.m.

One person was killed in an early morning collision between a box truck and a tractor trailer in the Town of Southampton on Monday, State Police said.

The crash, which took place on eastbound Sunrise Highway east of Exit 62 on the border of Northampton and Remsenberg-Speonk, was reported at 5:39 a.m.

Police said a passenger in the box truck died at the scene, while the driver of the box truck and driver of the tractor trailer were both transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead with undisclosed injuries. Police have not released the identities of anyone involved, pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 631-756-3300.
