THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $16,940,218 budget for 2015-16, a 3.37 percent increase from the current $16,388,165. The local tax levy would increase 2.52 percent, from $12,386,641 to $12,698,498.
This increase is equal to the state's tax-cap limit of 2.52 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. The district said it could not provide estimates for school taxes on the average single-family home because it does not receive an average assessed value.
The proposed budget includes a 2 percent salary increase for teachers and a step increase of 1.75 percent. The district plans to add one-half of a full-time staff position and one teacher's aide.
