The Long Island Rail Road resumed regular train service between Huntington and Hicksville in time for the evening rush, a spokesman said Friday.
Train service between the two stations was suspended much of Friday because ice on a "miles long" portion of the third rail between the two stations prevented trains from making electrical contact.

LIRR spokesman Stanley Davis said service in both directions had been restored as of about 5 p.m.
There were 10- to 15-minute delays east of Jamaica on the Babylon Branch because a 6:05 p.m. train from Penn Station due at Wantagh at 6:51 p.m. struck debris, Davis said.
