Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday in Peconic.

A Southold man, Sergio Montenegro-Ochoa, 25, was killed in the crash, which occurred on Route 48 at 12:39 a.m., Southold Town police said.

A Southold man, Sergio Montenegro-Ochoa, 25, was killed in the crash, which occurred on Route 48 at 12:39 a.m., Southold Town police said.

Police said Montenegro-Ochoa was driving west on Route 48 when his car left the road and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
