Suffolk County police responded to Suffolk County Community College in Selden Monday morning after a report of a person with a gun on the campus but no weapon was found, officials said.

A student saw a message posted on the social media site Yik Yak that indicated someone was in the library with a gun and told campus officials, said SCCC spokesman Drew Biondo.

Suffolk County police responded to Suffolk County Community College in Selden Monday morning after a report of a person with a gun on the campus but no weapon was found, officials said.

A student saw a message posted on the social media site Yik Yak that indicated someone was in the library with a gun and told campus officials, said SCCC spokesman Drew Biondo.

The call was received at 10:54 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

About 50 to 60 people were evacuated from the campus library. Responding officers searched the campus for more than a half-hour and found nothing, Biondo and police said.

The library has since reopened.
