Drivers should be aware of road closures and detours Sunday morning into the early afternoon along the route of the 2018 Catholic Health Services Suffolk County Marathon on the South Shore.

The closures and detours will be in effect between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the communities of Great River, Oakdale, West Sayville, Sayville, Bayport, Blue Point and Patchogue, Suffolk County police said. The area around Heckscher State Park, the marathon's halfway point, also will be affected.

The closures and detours will be in effect between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the communities of Great River, Oakdale, West Sayville, Sayville, Bayport, Blue Point and Patchogue, Suffolk County police said. The area around Heckscher State Park, the marathon's halfway point, also will be affected.

The closures include Montauk Highway between Connetquot Avenue in Great River and Ocean Avenue in Patchogue; Exit 46A on Sunrise Highway; Nicolls Road southbound at Church Street in Bayport; Broadway Avenue southbound, south of Sunrise Highway in Sayville; and Great River Road in Great River south of Montauk Highway.

In addition to the road closures, parking will beprohibited between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Montauk Highway from Connetquot Avenue in Great River to Ocean Avenue in Patchogue, police said.

"Additionally, there is no parking along Great River Road, River Road and Timber Point Road, east of Maynard Lane, in Great River," police said in a statement. "Vehicles will be towed."
