Sarasota is set to be the newest nonstop destination from Long Island MacArthur Airport, with Breeze Airways adding two weekly nonstop flights to the Gulf Coast destination.

The airline said the new flights will be added on Thursdays and Sundays beginning Nov. 21.

Sarasota-Bradenton marks the seventh year-round nonstop destination from Islip offered by Breeze since it launched at the airport in February 2022, the airline said. It's the third Florida destination, including Vero Beach and new Fort Myers service beginning in October.

Other Breeze destinations include Charleston, South Carolina and Norfolk, Virginia.

"Today's announcement reinforces Breeze Airways' focus and commitment to serving Long Island while underscoring MacArthur Airport's dual role as our region's 'air bridge' to national markets and as an economic engine for the Island," executive director of the Association for a Better Long Island, Kyle Strober, said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Breeze additions are not the only new offerings coming to the airport later this year. JetBlue Airways will join Breeze and fellow MacArthur carriers Southwest and Frontier this fall. JetBlue will offer nonstop daily service to Orlando, with flights four time per week to West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, as well. The airline's service at MacArthur begins on Oct. 24.
