Service on the Long Island Rail Road between Penn Station and Jamaica was restored in time for the evening rush after a westbound train fatally hit an unauthorized person on the tracks Wednesday afternoon, the LIRR said.

The victim, a male, was on the tracks just west of the Kew Gardens Station when he was hit about 11:45 a.m., the commuter rail said.

The victim, a male, was on the tracks just west of the Kew Gardens Station when he was hit about 11:45 a.m., the commuter rail said.

MTA police were investigating the circumstances.

Westbound trains bypassed Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside while eastbound ones bypassed Kew Gardens, MTA officials said.

Full service was restored about 3 p.m.
