Residual delays as Amtrak service resumes in Northeast

There were residual delays Monday evening on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor service between Philadelphia and New York City after a Washington-bound Acela train struck and killed a trespasser on the tracks, an Amtrak spokesman said.
The crash occurred at around 3:30 p.m. near the Metropark, N.J., station, he said.

After speed restrictions were lifted, service was restored to normal on all tracks at about 6:30 p.m. with leftover delays of between 40 to 60 minutes, said Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham.
