Stay tuned Tuesday because the National Weather Service has forecast a sequel to Labor Day's sunny skies and 80 degree temperatures.
After a cool and comfortable overnight with a low of 62 degrees, Tuesday's high will be about 80 with not a cloud in sight, according to the weather service.
It follows a holiday weekend that saw mostly sunny skies — with some showers mixed in Sunday — and comfortable temperatures, from one end of Long Island to the other after a mostly stormy week.
The weekend breezes and relatively dry air Monday will also return Tuesday, forecasters said. The low Tuesday night will dip to 66 before clouds roll in Wednesday morning with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.
Wednesday night, the chance of showers increases to 70% after 9 p.m. New rainfall amounts of between between a quarter and a half inch are possible, according to the weather service.
A 30% chance of showers persists until about 8 a.m. Thursday before the sun begins breaking through the clouds with a high near 79 and an overnight low of 61, according to the weather service.
