What happened:
- Joe Biden accepted the Democratic Party's presidential nomination 33 years after his first run for the White House. He gave his word that "if you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the best of us not the worst."
- Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms invoked civil rights icon John Lewis' legacy as she encouraged people to vote. "Congressman Lewis would not be silenced, and neither can we," she said.
- Brayden Harrington, a boy who bonded with Biden over their struggles with stuttering, said, "Joe Biden made me feel confident about something that's been bothering me my whole life."
- Emcee Julia Louis-Dreyfus brought zingers, and Sarah Cooper riffed on Trump, then urged all viewers to vote.
