Quick! Turn on your TV, key in two random numbers and there’s a better than 62 percent chance that some version of “Law & Order” will be on.

OK, so maybe it’s not that high a percentage (which I made up anyway), but the legal/cop series has blanketed networks going back to 1990 when the original series debuted.

OK, so maybe it’s not that high a percentage (which I made up anyway), but the legal/cop series has blanketed networks going back to 1990 when the original series debuted.

While the original ended this year — joining “Trial by Jury” in the “Law & Order” graveyard — “Special Victims Unit” and “Criminal Intent” are still plowing along.

And this season they got two more cousins: NBC’s “Law & Order: Los Angeles” and BBC America’s “Law & Order: U.K.”

Both productions, evidently from their titles, have ditched the series’ New York setting for other far-off, easily abbreviated locations. The format, however, remains the same. Cops, then lawyers.

Cue the familiar “chung chung.”

‘Law & Order’ for all

Doesn’t it seem as if every channel has its own “Law & Order”? What if they did? amNewYork speculates on what “Law & Orders” could fit on different networks.
“Law & Order: …
• Food Poisoning Division” — Food Network
• Illegal Alien Unit” — Syfy
• Real House-wives of Rikers Island” — Bravo
• Extra Violent Bloody Crimes” — HBO
• Michael Vick Crimes” — Animal Planet
• I Remember the ’80s Crimes” — VH1
• Crimes of Passion” — Playboy
• Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood Bureau” — PBS
• Snooki Patrol and Affairs” — MTV

On TV: “Law & Order: L.A” airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on NBC/4; “Law & Order: U.K.” airs on Sundays at 10:30 p.m. on BBC America.
