Belot took first place overall in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 1 1/4 inches on her first attempt of the finals. She also set the CHSAA record two weeks earlier (39 feet, 2 3/4 inches).
EMMA GALLAGHER
600 State and Federation champion
Gallagher got herself into position with a daring mid-pack move with two laps remaining, then outkicked the leaders with 100 meters left to win. The freshman clocked a 1:32.37 to earn the first of her two championships.
VALENCIA HANNON
55 State champion
The Clemson-bound Hannon took third place overall in the 55 but won the state crown with a time of 7.22 seconds.

The Lady Trojans won the 4 x 400 in comfortable fashion, clocking a 3:55.73 to win the title. The foursome went on to set a Nassau record and finish second overall at nationals a week later.

Josephs ended her Garden City career in storybook fashion, winning the walk in her fifth and final try. The senior clocked a 7:04.84 -- .02 seconds ahead of second place -- to take home the title.

shot put State championNwodili took second place overall in the shot put, but her personal-best throw of 42 feet, 3 1/2 inches was more than enough to win the state title.

1,600 Federation champion
Awad erased a 25-meter gap with about half a lap left to take the second half of a distance double. The UPenn-bound senior won the 1,600 in 4:21.26, just a few hours after taking third place in the 3,200.
JOE CARACIOLO

and Federation champion
Caraciolo rebounded from a broken foot last winter to win the long jump. The senior's leap of 22 feet, 6 inches -- which came on his first jump of the finals -- was also a career best.

Federation champion
Moran used his signature late-race move to take both crowns in the 3,200. The junior outkicked the field with a 63-second final quarter to win in 9:08.57.
