The state Education Department has released the results of the controversial standardized math and English exams.

The number of students considered “proficient” plunged to 31 percent.

Long Island students in grades three through eight took the tests in April.

Some parents boycotted the exams and complained children and teachers were not adequately prepared.

The exam is part of the state’s tough Common Core curriculum.
