Daily highs across Long Island on Thursday push into the low 70s under partly sunny skies, the National Weather Service said.

The service’s Upton office said that, after a morning intrusion of patchy fog, conditions will be mostly warm with winds from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said a few spotty showers could develop toward late afternoon.

Daily highs Thursday will be 5 to 7 degrees above normal for this time of year, Hoffman said.

Skies clear later Thursday and into the overnight hours, Hoffman said. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s, but winds pick up, blowing from the west-northwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Friday looks to be mostly sunny and breezy, Hoffman said. Daily highs will be between 60 and 65 degrees, giving way to a mostly sunny and mild weekend.

“A good fall weekend,” Hoffman said, “perfect for East End fun and any fall festivals.”
