"Isolated showers" are due in the evening with a risk of heavy rain overnight as well, according to the National Weather Service. A coastal flood statement has been issued for southern Nassau Wednesday evening.
"Brief minor flooding is expected in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline," the weather service said. "Some roads and low-lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding."
Then Thursday, the weather service said, "Eastern portions of Long Island and potentially southeast Connecticut could see lingering showers in the morning with mostly dry conditions returning in the afternoon."
Highs around 80 degrees are forecast.
Sunny skies are predicted for Friday and the weekend, but there is a chance of rain Monday and Tuesday. Highs should be around 80 degrees during that time, according to the weather service.
