The thunderstorms rolling across Long Island Wednesday evening are forecast to be replaced Thursday by a mix of clouds, sun, and lower temperatures, as the region gets a break from stifling heat.

A heat advisory ended at 8 p.m. Wednesday after forecasters said heat indices approached or exceeded 100°F.

A severe thunderstorm watch ends at 10 p.m.

With the storms breaking the heat, the National Weather Service said Long Islanders can expect sunshine through the weekend, with daily highs in the mid 80s, lower humidity, and lows at night in the high 60s.

The next chance of rain comes Tuesday, when skies will be mostly cloudy with highs in the low 80s and an overnight low of 70.
