Wednesday should bring mostly sunny skies, warming up to the high 40s, forecasters say.

Early morning Thursday, though, starts off with a chance of showers, expected to wrap up by early afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

That would be one of “a few chances of wet weather in the next 7 days,” said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist. For the most part, temperatures are also expected to be cooler than normal for this time of year, he said. The normal high for Wednesday at Long Island MacArthur Airport is 54 degrees, with 37 the normal low.

Cloudy skies Thursday would then give way to some sun, as temperatures head up to the mid-50s, with winds gusting up as high as 26 mph or so, the weather service said.

Friday brings sunny skies, with temperatures heading up to the upper 40s.

As for the weekend, Saturday is expected to bring some showers, with highs in the mid-50s, and on Sunday, Long Islanders will see sunny skies and highs about 10 degrees cooler.
