Bosses are increasingly ordering their remote staff to return to the office full time, according to a new study by management consulting firm McKinsey, which found “a surge” of recent return-to-office mandates across almost all industries.
Still, many workers hold out hope for a middle ground: a hybrid policy where they split duties between working in-office and working at home, an arrangement they also believe is best for the company. When asked to rate their companies on five key metrics — collaboration, connectivity, innovation, mentorship and skill development — employees said hybrid work was the “best for organizational performance” in each category.
McKinsey found one underlying theme whether employees worked remotely, in-office or hybrid. Most said “their overall work experience needs improvement.”
Shake Shack, Delta take flight at LaGuardia
Delta is adding Shake Shack to its in-flight menu, offering food from the burger chain for first-class passengers on flights out of LaGuardia Airport of more than 900 miles. The partnership began on flights from Boston’s Logan Airport, where Delta says it has served 10,000 burgers since December. But the plane is a no-fry zone. Cooking French fries onboard isn’t feasible, so passengers get potato chips instead.

The U.S. Copyright Office says AI art generated solely from text prompts, such as this cat reading a newspaper, doesn't qualify for copyright protection. Credit: U.S. Copyright Office
If you ask ChatGPT to create a piece of art, can you copyright it? Probably not. In a new report, the U.S. Copyright Office says images generated by AI programs via text prompts “do not provide sufficient human control” to qualify for copyright protection. As an example of art that doesn’t qualify, the Office displayed an AI image of a cat reading a newspaper it generated solely from text prompts.

The median price of an Uber and Lyft ride rose 7.2% year over year in 2024 to $15.99, according to an analysis by analytics firm Gridwise. More than 72% of consumers said they would “reduce or stop using rideshare services if prices increased further.” — BLOOMBERG NEWS
