Only three customers were shopping at Looney Tunes Record Store on Saturday afternoon when pop icon Selena Gomez and music producer Benny Blanco walked through the front doors.

One customer who was in the West Babylon store to buy "I Said I Love You First," the new album by the engaged couple and creative collaborators, "almost fainted" from disbelief, said Karl Groeger, the store owner.

"She broke down. She couldn't even get herself to be able to meet her," Groeger said. "But I brought her over to her. She was freaking out. It was pretty special."

Gomez and Blanco drew hundreds of people to the store in an unannounced meet and greet to promote their new album, which was released on Friday.

The couple, who announced their engagement in December, worked behind the counter as customers began to rush to the store, Groeger said. They checked out customers and answered the phones.

"People were calling and saying, ‘Hey is Selena Gomez there?’ while she was picking up the phone and talking to them," Groeger said.

Groeger said that artists such as Cardi B, LL Cool J, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato have visited the store in the recent past, usually opting for a ticketed meet and greet, and sometimes even performing.

But since Gomez was only available for about an hour, Groeger said it made more sense to not advertise her appearance at all.

"We'd have 10,000 people," Groeger said, had the event been advertised. "So, we knew that we wanted to do something very cool."

On Monday afternoon, Gomez posted a video compilation on TikTok of her and Blanco answering the phones at the record store.

“She’s like, 'Can I make it to the store on time?' ” Blanco asks Gomez about a customer call. “And then she was like, ‘Wait, is this Benny?!' ”

“Can we help you here at Looney Tunes?” Gomez is heard saying to another customer on the phone.
