Go inside the Syosset farmers market

With the coming of summer, farmers markets take flight. This year, Long Island boasts 36 weekly markets, from Long Beach to Montauk, Port Washington to Shelter Island. Joining in for the first time are Syosset and New Hyde Park in Nassau, Bay Shore, Greenport and Lindenhurst in Suffolk.

For the best selection, go early; to keep perishables in the best shape, bring a cooler tote. And, most important, keep your mind open to seasonal splendor: This may be the only week for those candy-sweet berries, spicy greens, juice-heavy peaches.
