A Central Islip man was arrested in the stabbing of a co-worker at a Nesconset pizzeria with a knife during an argument Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Paul Albinagorta, 34, was charged with first-degree assault following the alleged attack, which police said occurred at Gino's of Nesconset on Smithtown Boulevard shortly after 11 a.m.

Police said the victim, who was identified only as a 60-year-old male, was aided outside the pizzeria after he left the business on foot. He was transported by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to a news release.

Albinagorta was not injured in the dispute, police said.

The restaurant owners could not be reached for comment Sunday.

Albinagorta will be arraigned for misdemeanor menacing, in addition to the felony assault charge, in First District Court in Central Islip on Monday, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the alleged stabbing to contact Fourth Squad investigators at 631-854-8452.
