Nick Brodeur and Angelica Miceli’s romance began in October 2017 on OKCupid, where a shared sense of humor and mutual interests led to their first date at an escape room.

Brodeur, 33, said he was immediately drawn to Miceli’s beauty, but his nerves caused him to sweat through his clothes — something that surprisingly made her smile.

“I was just trying to escape the room to impress her,” recalled Brodeur, a Verizon Wireless manager. “It backfired, but in a funny way — she loved it.”

Miceli recalled thinking, “Wow! This guy sweats a lot,” but despite the nerves, they quickly hit the ground running.

Their connection was undeniable, and just a few days after chatting, they said they officially became a couple. Their relationship blossomed as they bonded over pickleball, binge-watching movies and long walks with their two dogs, Bella and Obi.

“We’re best friends first and lovers second,” Miceli said. “He’s my first call, my first text, my first gossip, he’s my first everything.”

Traveling and moving in together helped Brodeur realize he had found his future wife, he said. Miceli, 30, and director of partnership engagement at Discover Long Island, said their adventures let them “be kids together.”

Brodeur proposed on Dec. 13, 2022, at Walt Disney World in Florida. Surrounded by family, the proposal was a blend of romance and nostalgia.

“Angelica and her family are very big Disney fans who go there once a year,” Brodeur said. For the proposal, he said he chose to ask Miceli while she was holding the floating lanterns from “Tangled,” their favorite Disney movie.

The couple tied the knot this year, on Sept. 13, at The Royalton Mansion in Roslyn Heights. They said they embraced a subtle Friday the 13th theme with “Friday the Martini” cocktails and décor.

Their guest list included 134 of their close friends and family members, with Brodeur’s uncle officiating and crafting their wedding cake.
