Overturned box truck cleared from Long Island Expressway, lanes reopened
An overturned box truck that snarled traffic on the westbound Long Island Expressway near Sunnyside Boulevard in Plainview Tuesday has been cleared, Nassau County Police confirmed.
Police said there was one minor injury related to the incident, but said that person was treated at the scene.
The New York State Department of Transportation 511 NY website reported the incident occurred at 11:03 a.m. – and said the three left lanes and shoulder were closed. But they have since been reopened.
Traffic cam footage showed heavy duty tow trucks righting the truck at 12:50 p.m. and traffic moving slowly through the area. A traffic jam extended east to Round Swamp Road.
By 2:15 p.m. the DOT website was showing the crash site had been cleared.
