They say nothing is more American than baseball and apple pie, but what’s more New York than Yankee pinstripes, pastrami sandwiches and a Jamaican beef patty from the shop down the street?

The Yankees on Wednesday unveiled their new food and beverage items for the 2025 season, and amidst the fried chicken sandwiches and a lobster roll that looked like it came straight out of Cape Cod, there were a number of New York-based options. And for good reason.

“We started as soon as the World Series was over and thought about bringing in the New York story,” said Robert Flowers, executive chef at Yankee Stadium. “I do [think that was missing a little bit before]. You look at something as simple as a pastrami sandwich and we wanted to make sure that we were curating the food that the demographic palate was going to eat and enjoy.”

The Yankees announced 18 new food options, as well as five different cocktails. Prices for the items have yet to be announced. They also began a number of new food partnerships, including one with Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, which will serve up Korean beef, kung pao chicken and buffalo chicken dumplings out of sections 108, 205, 213 and 321. A favorite on Wednesday was the stuffed Jamaican beef patty from Caribbean Food delights, which also serves an unstuffed version. The modified beef patty, with its flavorful beef and flaky crust, is filled with a cilantro lime slaw and jerk BBQ aioli and will be found in the FreshDirect Terrace and Toyota Terrace.

The pastrami sandwich comes courtesy of longtime Yankee Stadium partner Lobel’s, while the ever-popular Streetbird, celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson’s fried chicken venture, is debuting its “Birddog” — a footlong hot dog topped with a sauce-coated chicken tender, garlic aioli, pickles and cheese sauce.

And fear not, dessert afficionados, there’s something new for you, too. Celebrity chef Christian Petroni, who last year stayed on the savory side of the equation, has brought his Bronx-Italian flair to after-dinner treats. He’s partnered with Mister Softee to create a sundae layered with vanilla ice cream, hazelnut hot fudge, cannoli praline crunch and vanilla panna. He’s also serving up a tiramisu so traditional, your nonna could have made it (that is, if your grandmother served her tiramisu in a small collectable baseball cap).

Petroni “grew up five, 10 minutes from here and I think Mister Softee has got to be in the top five — for me at least — the things in New York that are so New York,” he said. “My young kid ears were trained to hear the Mister Softee truck from miles away. I can’t believe I get to do this here at the stadium.”
