Jets, Josh Reynolds agree to one-year deal

The Jets added a veteran receiver whom new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand knows well.
Well-traveled Josh Reynolds signed a one-year deal with the Jets on Thursday. Reynolds, 30, has played for the Rams, Titans, Lions, Broncos and Jaguars in his nine-year career. He has 233 catches for 3,127 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Reynolds spent three seasons in Detroit, where new Jets coach Aaron Glenn was the defensive coordinator and Engstrand was an offensive coach. Reynolds had two of his most productive seasons with the Lions when Engstrand was the passing game coordinator. He caught a total of 78 passes for 1,087 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022 and 2023.
He also has a connection with new Jets general manager Darren Mougey. Denver signed Reynolds as a free agent last offseason, when Mougey was the Broncos’ assistant general manager.
Reynolds played only five games for the Broncos last season. He was the victim of a shooting in Denver in October, and the police report said he was shot in the arm and the back of his head.
Reynolds was able to return to the field later in the year and finished the season with the Jaguars. He caught 13 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown last season.
The Jets need depth in their receiver room and could use another playmaker to take some attention away from Garrett Wilson. Reynolds joins a group that currently features Allen Lazard, Tyler Johnson, whom the Jets signed earlier this offseason, Xavier Gipson and Malachi Corley. Lazard’s future with the team remains unclear. He could be released to free up cap space.
