SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In a story published September 22, 2023, about property insurance, The Associated Press erroneously reported that insurers must pay into a fund to provide coverage for people who can’t get coverage through no fault of their own. The fund is primarily funded by policies sold to customers. Insurers only pay into the fund if it is insolvent or to keep it from going insolvent.
