Carle Place-based 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. is outsourcing its network of home-based customer service agents, the floral and gift retailer said in a state regulatory filing posted Friday.
The network's 220 employees, including about 30 in New York State, will be offered jobs with Sutherland Global Services Inc., a Pittsford, N.Y.-based company that will take over those jobs, said 1-800-Flowers.com spokeswoman Yanique Woodall.
"All of the home agents will be offered positions with Sutherland Global Services," she said. "They will be transferred with comparable pay rates with their current tenure and comparable health and other benefits," she said.
Woodall said the agents will continue to work with 1-800-Flowers.com customers. She acknowledged the change would save 1-800-Flowers.com money but said she was unable to say how much.
Sutherland will take over the home-agent network beginning in November.
