AccuVein Inc. has had its products approved for sale in China.
The Huntington company makes medical devices that ease injections and intravenous tube insertions by illuminating veins beneath the skin. The device is "the world's first handheld, non-contact vein" illuminator, AccuVein said.
The company proclaimed the trade breakthrough with a news release Wednesday that said its merchandise is "now available to majority of the world’s population."
China's State Food and Drug Administration gave the all-clear for distribution by Hong Kong Fortune Life Trade Ltd.
The AccuVein AV300 is now available in 88 countries representing two thirds of the world’s population, and is already for sale in India, Russia and Japan.
Newsday reported in July that AccuVein got $22.5 million in funding from outside investors, in the form of second-stage, or series B, financing meant to help it expand in the United States and internationally.
