A new Aldi store is scheduled to open later this month in Medford, the Germany-based grocery chain said Monday.

The store will open at the Medford Crossing shopping center, located at 2799 Rte. 112, on June 12.

The first 100 customers to shop at the 22,000-square-foot grocery store will receive gift bags filled with product samples and gift cards, according to a news release.

The grand opening event starts at 9 a.m., the company said.

From its layout to its product selection, every decision the grocer makes is geared toward offering lower prices for consumers, Chris Daniels, regional vice president for Aldi, said in a statement announcing the opening.

"As shoppers look for better ways to stretch their dollar, Aldi is providing Medford with easier access to quality groceries at affordable prices,” Daniels said.

While the store will host a grand opening on June 12, shoppers who want to visit the new location will be able to shop at the store starting June 11, according to Aldi’s website.

Aldi grows its footprint

The new opening is part of a larger expansion of the discount grocery chain on Long Island and across the country.

The grocer has previously said it is investing more than $9 billion to open 800 more stores in the U.S. by the end of 2028. Planned additions for the Island include sites in Bethpage and Lake Ronkonkoma.

The grocer, which has 15 locations on Long Island, entered the local market in 2011 with a store in Bay Shore. Aldi has opened four locations locally in the last two years.

Aldi has more than 2,300 grocery stores throughout the United States after opening around 100 annually over the last decade.

In March, the grocer purchased Southeastern Grocers and its approximately 400 Winn-Dixie stores and Harveys Supermarkets in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi, the company said at the time.
