Islandia-based CA Technologies said Wednesday it will supply two of its security software programs, SiteMinder and SiteMinder Federation, for use by the global commerce company Swift Exchange.

The software will enable Swift Exchange to "help secure and simplify access to its loyalty program commerce system," CA Technologies said in a statement. It described the Swift Exchange as "an innovative commerce ecosystem designed to provide unprecedented liquidity, transparency and usability of reward points and miles, making them as easy to spend as cash."

CA did not give a dollar figure for the deal.

The company said, "the sensitive information associated with loyalty programs and the need to balance security and convenience for its customers – whether reward providers, merchants or consumers – drove Swift Exchange to select best-in-class security solutions, such as CA SiteMinder and CA SiteMinder Federation from CA Technologies."

Swift Exchange, on its website, says its system "allows points and miles from multiple reward programs to be combined together into one spendable balance. Consumers are given a new way to pay merchants. 'Cash, credit or Swift?'"
