East Setauket King Kullen to close
The King Kullen supermarket in East Setauket is closing its doors next month after 10 years at the location.
The store, in the Three Village Shopping Center at 1375 Rte. 25A, will close on June 11.
King Kullen representatives declined to say how many workers are employed in the store.
"We do not anticipate a layoff of employees, as they will be offered relocation to other stores, including our nearby supermarkets in St. James, Selden and Mount Sinai," said Joseph Brown, senior vice president and chief merchandising officer of King Kullen, and president of sister chain Wild by Nature.
"It has been a privilege to serve the Three Village community and we remain committed to the area through our East Setauket Wild by Nature," Brown said.
After the closure, Bethpage-based King Kullen will have 36 King Kullen locations and five high-end Wild by Nature stores throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. King Kullen is recognized by the Smithsonian Institution as America's first supermarket.
