The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce is hosting four free workshops for minority, women and economically disadvantaged business owners seeking to do business with the government.

The workshops will be Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon on May 9, 16, 23 and 30. All sessions will be held at the Baldwin Public Library, 2385 Grand Ave. in Baldwin.

Each workshop will cover the value of minority, women and disadvantaged business enterprise certification, finding a niche market for government contract opportunities, getting ready to do business with the government, and the value of teaming and strategic partnerships.

The chamber will also host a small business forum at the Baldwin library on May 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., featuring business leaders using MWDBE certifications for business expansion. The keynote speaker will be Barbara Armand, president of the National Association of Professional Women in Construction, and chief executive of Armand Corp., a construction management firm with offices in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Manhattan.

Seating is limited. To RSVP for one of the Saturday workshops, email info@liaacc.com or call Bonita Clark at 516-208-9988. For the small business forum, email info@liaacc.com by May 22.

The chamber serves Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Kings (Brooklyn) counties.
