The Hauppauge Industrial Association -- www.hia-li.org/ -- has a new nickname. Formerly shortened to just HIA, the group, as of this month, is to be known as the HIA-LI. That was one recommendation that emanated from a survey of members and a brand assessment, conducted by Communication Strategy Group, East Northport.

A key reason for the “moniker” change, according to the report, is to become more search engine friendly. Also, with members from all over Long Island, not just the Hauppauge area, “we made a conscious effort to reflect who we are,” said Terri Alessi-Miceli, above left, HIA-LI president, in an e-mail to members.
