Suffolk County will host several hiring events over the next two weeks to help job seekers find work or obtain information on self-employment opportunities. All the events will be free and take place at the county’s One-Stop Employment Center at 725 Veterans Memorial Hwy. in Hauppauge. Because of limited space, some events require registration; to register call 631-853-6600.

FedEx will be recruiting on Wednesday from 10 to noon for 20 seasonal drivers to deliver packages to homes and businesses for $17 an hour.

On the same day at 9:30 a.m., a representative from Kensington Co., a Roslyn Heights company that provides merger and acquisition and franchise services, will talk about franchise  opportunities and career development . Registration is required.

Also on Wednesday at 9:30 a representative from Suffolk County Community College will hold an informational session on various technical fields such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning, commercial refrigeration and computer-aided manufacturing. Registration is required.  

On Thursday SAS Retail Services will be on hand from 9 to noon to recruit retail merchandisers  to work on a team at $12 an hour stocking and building displays and participating in store events. Applicants must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and have a valid driver’s license and a car.

On Nov. 14 at 9:30 a representative from the New York State Small Business Development Center will discuss how to start your own business. Registration is required.
