Donald M. Jacobowitz of Plainview, executive vice president of health services at Jefferson's Ferry Lifecare Retirement Community in Setauket, has been appointed to the nursing facility cabinet of LeadingAge New York, an association of senior services nonprofits.

Jo Anne Orlando of Stony Brook has been appointed to the executive board of Long Island Language Teachers, an organization of second-language teachers in Suffolk and Nassau counties. She teaches Spanish at William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach.
Linda M. Oliva of West Hempstead has been appointed president-elect of the executive board of the Nassau County Women's Bar Association. She is an attorney at Pegalis and Erickson LLC in New Hyde Park.
David I. Jackson of Huntington Station has been elected first vice speaker of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is an associate professor, clinical coordinator, and director of admissions at New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury.
