Looking for McDonald's crew in Central Islip
Tuesday was National Hiring Day at McDonald's, and the fast-food chain tried to sign up 50,000 new workers -- including some on Long Island, for example at the Central Islip location at 13 W. Suffolk Ave.
"As sales increase, we're looking to add more to our staff," said Katie Hunt, an owner-operator.
"We're looking for part-time, full-time. We offer competitive pay and benefits," she said.
The Central Islip location's website said it was "Now Hiring Crew" Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. Hunt declined to give more details on the chain's local hiring.
Its nationwide effort was aimed at filling 50,000 jobs, both seasonal and year-round and full-time and part-time positions, depending on each store's needs.
McDonald's urges potential applicants to visit their participating local McDonald's or go to McDonalds.com/careers, where they can search for stores by community. For example, a search Tuesday showed no vacancies at the Wantagh store but four crew positions available in Valley Stream.
In announcing the hiring event, Mason Smoot, vice president and general manager of McDonald's New York Metro Region, said the business was strong and "customers are responding positively."
The company says it has more than 600 McDonald's restaurants, owned by over 100 franchisees, located throughout the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Tri-State area.
