Dr. Nicole Noyes, a reproductive endocrinologist who has treated some 30,000 infertility patients during a career spanning more than 28 years, has been appointed to lead Northwell Health’s fertility services, the health system said Thursday.

The fertility preservation and in vitro fertilization specialist assumed her new role on Jan. 1 as Northwell Health’s system chief for reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

She joins Northwell from NYU Langone Health, where she co-founded the NYU Langone Fertility Center. She had been co-director of fertility preservation at NYU since 2004.

“Recruiting Dr. Noyes to lead reproductive endocrinology throughout the health system will enable Northwell to further enhance our fertility services across the metropolitan area, especially in Manhattan where she has a large patient following and practice," said Dr. Michael Nimaroff, senior vice president and executive director of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwell Health. "Under Dr. Noyes’ leadership, there will be a major focus on expanding our fertility preservation services through egg freezing and embryo banking.”

New Hyde Park-based Northwell Health, the largest private employer in the state with more than 68,000 employees, has expanded by more than 4,500 full-timers in the past year. The expansion has included other high-profile additions. For example, Dr. Richard Barakat, then the director of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's regional network, joined Northwell in April to lead its cancer services and research. Barakat had been with MSKCC for 27 years.

Noyes, a gynecologic surgeon, treats patients with congenital uterine abnormalities and other conditions that may be causing infertility or pregnancy-related complications.

During her tenure, the NYU Fertility Center was ranked third in the nation by Child Magazine, with some of the highest and most consistent pregnancy rates in the world.
